How To Associate a Post To a Particular Page

  • This may sound like a silly question.
    I need to know how to associate certain posts to certain pages.
    When I post, the post always appears on my main page.
    I wish to move the post to another page, however when you add the post in the administration section, there is no function to place the post in a particular page.
    At least I haven’t seen one.
    Categories yes, pages no.
    One more dumb question. How do you set it up for users to be able to post messages. I must of missed that in my travels.

  • Do you mean giving each post is own page, or permalink? Your template will likely already have that – usually when you click the title of a post, that will take you to the post’s individual page.

    You just need to enable comments in your WP management interface. If you’re running 2.7, it’s under the “Settings” module – the link is titled “Discussion”.

    create a page, call it ‘posts’ or something to that effect.

    Create another page and call that one ‘home’ or something to that effect.

    Go to the settings section in your Admin, then go to ‘reading settings’

    You’ll see two drop downs, one to set what page is your home page, and one that will set what page your posts will come up on.

    What I’m searching for, if there was a way you can move posts to a particular page. Say you have a post that refers to certain subjects and you would like the post to appear on a certain page. Is there a way to move a post to that particular page.
    Say you have a page Classic Movies and you would like your posts about Classic Movies to show there, or say a page called pets, and you want your post to show there.
    Is there a way to move posts to certain related pages?

    That’s what you should use categories and tags for, since those will allow you to click the tag or category and see other pages with that same tag or category.
