Hi there, the GitHub manual shows how to designate a product category within a hierarchy of product categories, via use of arrow >

    – BUT how do l assign multiple categories to a product? By comma?

    – Also, would the categories then display in that order?

    – How do l name the categories? Can l name them via their slug? Or must l use full name? Or can it be either?

    – Also, is there any way to directly upload all this info as a CSV?

I assume you are using the built-in product importer for this.

    – BUT how do l assign multiple categories to a product? By comma?

That’s correct, you can enter multiple categories by using a comma.

How do l name the categories? Can l name them via their slug? Or must l use full name? Or can it be either?

They should be added using the category name.

    – Also, is there any way to directly upload all this info as a CSV?

The built-in importer works only with CSV files, so I’m unsure of what do you mean by a way to “directly upload all this info”, as that is the only way that importer works.

As a tip, I’d recommend manually creating a product on your store, and then export it. That way, you’ll be able to open the exported CSV file for that product, and use that as an example to format your future imports.

Know that you can find documentation for this tool at the following link: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/product-csv-importer-exporter/

    Hi there,

What l mean is: is there a way to directly upload all the category info (name, slug, description) as a CSV?

    I mean:

    – What column headings to use?
    – Where do l go to upload?

No, I’m afraid there isn’t a way to import just categories. The CSV importer will create new categories that you add to a product import, but you can’t upload a CSV file with just categories and the information you listed.

I’m not aware of any plugins that work like that, but I’ll leave this thread open for now to see if others might have suggestions.

We haven’t heard back from you or other users with additional suggestions in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.
