How to arrange posts by event start date?

Do you mean that you want to sort posts by event date in the native post loop ?
Nothing has been done for that feature, at this time, you “only” have one widget and one shortcode to display a list of event posts, sorted by event date or by post titles.

Sorry,

the widget is called “event list” and the shortcode [event_list]

But, you should have a box under the editor that help to generate the shortcode with all needed attributes.
