  • I have a multisite WP install set up as an events directory. As well as the parent site, there are 7 child sites of various topics. All of the events on the child sites appear on the parent site, however, the canonical URL for an event points to one of the child sites.

    I don’t fully understand how it works, but all the data I believe is stored in the one database on the parent URL.

    How do I put the Webmaster Toolscode into the child sites, and how do I get webmaster tools to realise that the canonical URLs for each child site is the SEO info I am looking to analyse?

    For example, Google’s webmaster tools will give you some additional statistical data about your traffic, such as how many people are arriving at your site through Google queries, what part of the world your traffic is from, and how many visitors landed on each specific post or page. It will also show you the total number of individual URLs on your site that have been indexed by Google, which search keywords are most significant for your site, and other information about how Google is indexing your site.

    make sure that you have google web master tool for verification meta tag
    this tag is like
    <meta name=”google-site-verification” content=”abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz0123456789″ />

    fearRacious: There are plugins like WordPress SEO which will let you identify a separate google verification tab per site.
