  • Excellent idea to create a new WordPress administrator for the temporary use of your website assistant.
These are the steps to creating a new user:
    – Login to your website dashboard.
    – On the left hand side of the dashboard, in the USER section, click AddUser
    – Fill in the required details: name, email, set the role to administrator.
    – tick the box for “email details to user”, they will use this link to activate the account and set their password.
    – tell your developer to expect this email.

And finally, after they have finished their work, then you delete or suspend this account.
You may also have to give them FTP credentials.

    Thank you, Ross.
That is how it works in front end WP
It does not work the same way in back end WP
I am not offered the option of adding a user

So I am wondering if any of you knows of a plugin that will allow me to add a user in my back end WP?

    @curonet9,
the method offered by @rossmitchell should work.

    Just to clarify

    • “frontend” refers to the site the visitors see,
    • “backend” refers to the administration panel you log into to configure your site.

This is what the users area of my site looks like
    WP Users Panel

What do you see when you go to your Users Area?

Front end is where you edit your website and makes all go live.
Back end is where you can change theme etc on a clone of your website. to see what works and looks ok before you actually transfer the result to your website.

Wanted to show you a screen shot of what my back end looks like however I cannot see how to upload a screen shot

Sorry curonet9, your usage of the terms frontend and backend are contrary to this communities expectations, I am not saying you are wrong, but if you persist then you will fail to communicate with us.
Suitable terms for your situation are “live” and “development”/”testing”/”localhost” as best fits your situation.
If I had known what you really needed initially, then I may have suggested that you use “TeamViewer” to let your outside developer visit a development computer, but how would I ever have known that.
