How to add Search by Category

How do I add a list of categories or a drop down menu of categories to the Directory page? I want the user to be able to pick the category they want to see, instead of having to scroll through all entries. I am testing and think this plugin will work well, but can’t find how to add this functionality in the documentation or forums.
