How to: Add Product Attribute w/ Enter Text?

This depends a bit on whether you are referring to the “Product Attributes” available under Products > Attributes (which it sounds like from the subject of your post), or if you just want vendors to be able to add different options on their products (i.e. “Please enter/select a date: “, “Please choose from: option 1, option 2, option 3”, etc).

If it’s the latter, then that should be possible with a plugin like Product Add-ons:

That said, it also depends a bit on what you are using for your online marketplace. While the Product Add-ons plugin is compatible with our Product Vendors extension, it’s possible that it may not work with the plugin you are using for your site.

On the other hand, if you were referring to Product Attributes and vendors being unable to add attributes, then that would most likely be due to the plugin you are using for adding marketplace/vendors. With our Product Vendors extension, vendors are still able to add custom attributes (which can be used as options in Variable products):

Hey @kellymetal Thanks for the reply. I was speaking of creating a custom attribute from the admin side like ‘Event Dates’ and allowing vendors to enter whatever dates/text they want from the front end.

I’m using Woocommerce Front End Manager to create this marketplace site by the way, which gives access for vendors to sign up and add products.

So yea, I’d like to limit the attributes that can be created from the front end while giving vendors freedom to enter whatever text they want in an attribute like ‘Event dates’ because it would be impossible for me to create a variation of every date possible on the calendar (example: December 5th – December 9th 2021) … way too many variations of dates.

Thank you for the clarification there. In that case, it really depends on that “Woocommerce Front End Manager” plugin that you are using to manage the access that vendors have.

In both the core WooCommerce plugin and our Product Vendors extension, there is no “frontend editing” of products, only backend editing and both admins and vendors can add custom attributes/terms/etc. That “frontend editing” is something coming entirely from the plugin you are using, and what you are trying to do would need to be integrated/controlled by that.
