Did 3.5 to 3.5.1 change media management?
Specifically how to add destination links to media files in 3.5.1?
I can’t figure out where to do this. I’ve used the description field link button and it asks to add url, I do, and it still links the file to my url home page?

Can anyone explain what I am missing to do this.

    Thanks.

  • Try adding it manually in the text editor (not visual) and let’s see if it works.
    <a href="https://www.google.com"><img class="alignnone size-full wp-image-1111" alt="the pic of the year" src="https://YOURSITE/wp-content/uploads/YOURPIC.jpg" /></a>
    Change the info appropriately.

Thanks. But the issue – the images in question are not in a post. There just in the media library and the footer via a theme specific logo widget. The Theme is Ultimatum.

    Site link is: https://katefalcocchia.com/

My media editor looks different from 3.5 than 3.5.1. Is this right?

It used to be so easy to do this? Do you recognize the differences I’m asking about?

I’ll try adding your html code in the media editor to the image and see what happens.

I don’t recall that there were any difference on the media editor. Are you sure you’re not talking about a theme media uploader for specific theme features (e.g. footer logo’s)?
Try adding this for your Hostgator pic:
    <a href="https://www.hostgator.com" class="logo"><img src="https://katefalcocchia.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/hostgator.png"></a>
It’s a bit strange to sometimes diagnose a problem if you can’t see the backend.

Understand that. Thanks again. Above code does not work either. The only place my image editor allows to configure a link is in the image description field. This is where I’m adding your code. All my footer image links revert to the site url as you found when looking. I am using the WP media editor. In 3.5 the media manager was updated. Mine (3.5.1) does not look like the tutorials I look at on youtube. This is weird. Any other thoughts?

Contact the theme author for support.

This link (a youtube tut on 3.5 media manager): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdZeUkRWRlw … shows how to link to a custom url to your media file. Mine (3.5.1) does not have this interface at all.

    Any idea why?

I use the theme support all the time. This is a WP issue. They say the same thing. My version of WP does not have the media interface as shown above.

Can you switch to the default (twentytwelve) theme and see if the same thing happens?

My wp version still shows all the columns and tabs fields in the media manager. It does not appear to have 3.5 media updates? How can I have 3.5.1 installed and not show these updates?

Is this support tag still open?

    Thanks,

Your theme support doesn’t obviously have a clue how a media manager looks like. Please, switch to the default theme (as WPyogi suggested) and see if there are any changes.

    What support tag?

What version of WP are you using on the site in question?

I’m not sure if that will work. Ultimatum is a theme builder, not a stand alone theme, and many component’s won’t work/show with out it loaded. But I’ll give that a try to check for differences in the media manager interface.

Ha ha. This support ticket. Was not sure if it was still open when you said to check theme support. No offense intended. Sorry to put you on edge. WP Version 3.5.1.

Give me a minute to switch themes and check.

How exactly do you add the images for the footer logos? In a widget? In the theme builder? Any chance for a screenshot?

I just looked at a test site of mine and there is nothing like what you are looking for EXCEPT when you insert media. The description field has nothing to do with where the image is linked to.
