Okay, so here is my problem. I have a site to share my videos on. I design my video sharing pages so that all of the content appears in a single window so that it can be seen without scrolling. My pages are to share videos, not ebooks.

Now every time I run an SEO analysis on my video pages, I get a big red flag for, “Not having enough content”. At first I did not understand what this meant. Not enough content? There is a whole video there! So eventually I figured out that, the word content really means,”TEXT”. Why they don’t just say TEXT is beyond me, but okay, whatever.

So here is my problem. I don’t want a bunch of TEXT on my pages. I want real content, like videos and images. You know the old saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words”. Well, not to google!!! Now the easiest way for me to meet the SEO requirement 500 words or something like that, is to add the transcript of the video under the video. I notice a lot of news sites do this. I always wondered why. Now I know.

The problem with adding the transcript of my video is that it would make my page really, really long. I mean, I talk a LOT in my videos. This also means a TON of work on my part. Whether I auto generate the transcript or do it manually, we are talking hours upon hours of work. Or I have to pay someone to do it and that means money (which I don’t have).

The easiest way for me to do this is to just auto transcribe my video and paste the raw results in the video without correcting all the errors. Of course this would look horrible and I don’t want that. So, I would need to hide this raw transcript from the viewer, but still make it available to the search engine for indexing. But, hiding it is considered “Cheating” by google. So my question is, how can I hide it without it being considered cheating?

Any other suggestions to solve my problem are also welcome.

There is no “requirement”. Yoast (I assume you’re using Yoast SEO) is just advising you that it doesn’t think there’s enough content. If you have a description of what the video is about and a decent title fro the post, then Google will be happy. Don’t let SEO make you crazy.

Yes. I am using Yoast, and it is about to drive me crazy. For a program that is number one SEO, I have to say, it does not feel very refined, well thought out and smooth to use. Many of the suggestions it makes to correct errors it finds, seem to me that they would make the page less “Human Friendly”.

I have been trying to get my site some better rankings in google search by using yoast. The problem is, I can’t find a way to measure if it is having any effect. Surly there is a way to track things like this to see if all my work is paying off. Is there?
