• I would like to use Google fonts in the visual editor of WordPress while creating posts and pages.

I know Virtue Theme has Google fonts but they are not displayed on the WordPress visual editor. how to accomplish this?

    Hey,
When adding text to posts and pages the font will automatically pull from whatever you have your body font set to in theme options > typography.
    Hope this helps.

Hmm, that’s interesting. I set my Body Typography to a couple of different Google fonts, and the Visual editor still showed the font as Helvetica Heue. It seems to pull the styling from the editor-style.css file. Is that file supposed to be updated every time the Typography options are saved?

Helvetica Heue is default and it will show on the back-end regardless, but when you publish the page it should show whatever your body font is set to on the front end. Did you try this?

Well, of course it will appear on the web page that way. The original post, however, asked about having Google fonts display on the Visual Editor, so that what you see on the Visual editor is the same as what will be displayed on the web page.

This would require that the fonts be loaded as part of the theme’s editor-style.css file. As far as I am aware, there isn’t a hook that allows a theme to make this editor style functionality child-friendly but you could try loading an amended editor-style.css file in the child theme to see if that helps. I’ve just not tried it myself.

Failing that, the child theme would probably have to re-write one of the parent’s setup functions.

Whoa, ESMI- that seems like so much technicality, I’m not well versed with coding.
As CrouchingBruin has again mentioned, i would like to select fonts while editing posts and pages.

I know there are a number of plugins to accomplish this task. but since virtue theme comes with Google fonts, can we see them on the visual editor?

No, You would need to use a plugin. The theme doesn’t add a google font selection to the page/post editor.

Oh ok, any plugin that you may suggest to work with Virtue Theme?

No suggestions, I have always kept to using the header tags set in the theme options. But I know there are plugins out there that do what you are asking.
