How to: Add extra attributes to pages

Hi folks,

I’m an experienced user in PHP but WordPress noob. I’m trying to add some extra attributes to my pages such as:

• featured (checkbox)
• image (associated file)
• enabled (checkbox)
• whatever…

Is there any way I can do this without modifying the core? Should I create a pluggin?
Any guide?
