How to add an icon set to a custom field type

I’m building a portfolio site. I have a set of icons illustrating different roles used during a specific project, i.e., designer, director, sales, etc.
I’d like to add a custom field to my portfolio post type that lists off the entire icon set. When I create a new post I’d like to check off which ‘roles’ were required for that job.
Anyone come across a tutorial or plugin that achieves this result.
