Hi everyone, hope you are doing well!

I was wondering, if we can make a page/have a page on a website which appears before the actual home page of the website?

So for example, when someone clicks the domain, it goes to a page which has a button that says “click to enter” and once someone clicks that, it takes them to the actual homepage of the domain/website.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help!

This could certainly be realised with a suitable theme or PageBuilder. This start page is defined as the start page. This in turn must not have any content other than the welcome test. The template for this page should therefore be minimalist. With a PageBuilder such as the Block Editor, Elementor, WpBakery and what they are all called, this would be quite easy to implement. You can use the normal templates on the pages behind it. The only thing is that you must never link to the homepage, as this is the start page.

This is not a new idea, by the way. Many people used to design their websites like this. Nowadays this is no longer done as it is detrimental to the website’s findability in search engines. With such a homepage, all other pages on the web have a lower ranking and would therefore not be as easy to find as without this page. This entry page would probably not even be displayed as a result by search engines – the pages with content would be favoured, just with a lower ranking. I would therefore advise against the idea unless you are building a very special page that doesn’t care about the ranking at all.
