how to add a page w 1 column as the splash page?

    hi,
    i am using the barecity theme (https://www.hiladar.com/portfolio/wordpress)

    I would like to have a splash page with 1 column (where i will manually link to pages) and then for each page to have a 2 column template (as it is now).
    I can create a 1 column php page, but how do i set it to be the splash page?
