How to add a fill-in the box

  • I’m a newbe and I’m going round and round trying to find this answer.

    I want to set up a bio page for people who join my site where, after they log in, they can fill in their bio info in different empty boxes.
    How do I do that? Is it html or is there a plugin I can use? I don’t know what I’m looking for is even called.

    I thought it might be a meta-box like Verve Meta Boxes or Magic Fields, but they seem to be something that sets up boxes with my text, not empty boxes for others to fill in.

    Ok, but what plugin?

    I’ve been studying HTML since I wrote this first post.
    Seems like a textarea would be what I want, but then what do I use on the server side that holds the text input and displays it back when the page is called?
    So far, when I refresh the page, the text I type in is not there.
