How to Add a Feature to My Homepage Where Users Can Upload Files?

  • I have a site where I want users to be able to upload their audio files to me somehow right on my homepage. Ideally it wouldn’t be uploaded to my site itself, just in case anyone gets any malicious ideas.

    It’d be great if there were some sort of Dropbox-like service which you could just embed easily into the code of a web page.

    As simple as that seems, I’ve been looking for this functionality on and off for a couple of years and I’m still hard pressed to find any solutions anywhere for this. Does anyone know of any plugins or services which offer this feature? Thanks in advance.

    You’re correct, having users able to upload files directly to your website isn’t advisable.

    There are a number of services out there (e.g. Soundcloud, Dropbox, Clyp and many more can be found via any search engine) where users can upload to those services and then share a link to you.

    Have you considered asking the users to upload to their own service as mentioned above and then send you a message via a contact form on your website?
