How to add a custom button to WP-Markdown?

  • First of all, awesome plugin, pretty much flawless, great job.

    I am using WP-Markdown on my notes blog, and have the need to add a custom button that wraps selected text in <kbd> and </kbd> tags.

    While I do not know JavaScript or PHP, I should be able to do it myself if you can provide me some clear pointers.

    EDIT: I already tried to follow the code in ‘Markdown.Editor.js’ to no avail. ?? Well, it really looks like some complex JavaScript code. If you can show me a code block in the file that I should follow (to duplicate it and create my own button), it would be great!

    Hi Aahan, sorry for the delayed response. I haven’t been able to give this plug-in my full attention recently. The javascript that handles the toolbar is handled by the JS plug-in, [PageDown](https://code.google.com/p/pagedown/). But I like the idea of adding custom buttons, so I shall certainly look into it!

    This would be great. My only gripe with WP Markdown is its basic code highlighter; our users are accustomed to more advanced features including Java-specific color coding, styled patch formatting and so forth. This can only be achieved with plugins like WP SyntaxHighlighter Evolved, which we’d like to add a custom button for.
