• Hello again, it’s been awhile.

I run a total of three unrelated websites now. They each have their own databases, separate installations and unrelated urls. I can go to their urls to log in to their dashboards and do whatever needs doing and am a happy girl.

Now I am trying to get a 3rd site up and running. I have installed wp for it already and am trying to get in to set it up and edit my theme. However, this time when I try to log in, I cannot even get it to allow me a username and password.

This making me nuts. What am I missing? I upgraded all my sites to version 3.0 today. Is this a 3.0 problem somehow?

    Looking forward to your help!

Are you saying that you were able to access the admin screen but now you cannot? Is the site still running?

    Hi Maoski,

No, I cannot log in to the Dashboard for my new site. I have been able to upload my WP theme files to my server (it’s hosted elsewhere) and that’s it.

This website is technically live because it somehow shows up as a very basic wordpress.com blog but I’m not really sure how or why. I started out 2 years ago on wordpress.com but quickly moved to self hosting through WP.org and haven’t even logged in there for years. Go figure.

Do you have any ideas on what’s going on here?

    AHA! Mystery solved!

When in doubt, consider that the culprit is a problem on installation… When my host did the WP install, they misunderstood my initial password and misspelled it. So I was trying to log in with the “wrong” password. No I can log in just fine, change the password and get going.

    Whew!
