How to activate my widget?

  • A complete newbie question.
    I would like to have a “join my mailing list” function on my site.
    I thought this could be achieved relatively easily with the widget “Join My Multisite”. I downloaded it, and put the folder containing its files in my wp-content/plugins folder. But I don’t see it in my list of widgets – how to I get it to appear there?
