    Hi,

I’m using a well known and quite excellent theme. However, I have modified it to the extent that it would be quite tedius to re-do the modifications when the theme is updated.

Therefore I would like to rename the theme (and use the oldname-mymod nameing scheme) as well as change it so that it doesn’t bug me about updates for it any more.

By having it under its own name I’m also able to have the original version installed and updated at all times. That’s a good thing as I might find that I like the new version so much that re-doing the changes is worth it.

    So:

    • How do I rename a theme so that it shows up under the new name in the Dashboard?
    • How do I change the update mechanism so that it stops annoying me about updates to the original theme?

I got the answer: Copy the theme to a new directory within the themes directory and edit the metadata at the beginning of style.css.
