How query top 5 posts from WordPress stats

    Is there any way to query, for example, the top 5 articles from WordPress stats to show the trending articles in the homepage of a self hosted website?

    I’m trying to avoid plugins that offer this kind of feature. So, i’m trying to build a function to do this.
