• i was about to upgrade my vbulletin site and asked a question about where the attachments to posts were stored to make sure that they dont get deleted

they told me they are by default stored in database

my question is, are pictures not just too big to be stored in databases? i mean is it not a huge amount of information and is it not better to store pictures in file folders? wordpress does it that way for example right? is it for this reason?

They’re stored in the uploads folder, so I’m not sure what that person’s answer meant.

    Better for what reason?

vBulletin isn’t WordPress, it’s forum software (apparently, I just looked that up).

So are you asking how vBulletin stores images? In which case there’s no point asking that question here, you’d need to use their own forums/support.

Or how WordPress stores images? In which case, as Andrew said they’re in the wp-content/uploads folder.

Knowing which method is better is probably not going to be helpful, because that’s simply the way WordPress does it. But as I understand, putting a lot of images in a database can make quickly make it unwieldy.
