I noticed an interesting behaviour with Tablesome…

My table was set up by importing an Excel file with 1000 rows – a very good process and all went well. By default (Tablesome’s default?) the table listed records alphabetically using the first column or field in the imported spreadsheet, namely ‘Title’. Again, all good. And of course all the columns can be sorted by clicking the table headers.

So then I installed Fluent Forms to allow new records to be created to the table. Again, this went well and I successfully submitted a few new records to the table.

I notice that these new entries from the form submission are all listed at the top of the table, regardless of their alphabetical order – i.e latest submission at the top, even if it’s Title is ‘Sugar Coating of Aluminium’…which would be ‘S’ in the alphabetical field sort.
But the rest of the 1000 records initially imported via Excel are all listed in alphabetical sequence. So I get three or four records which are not alphabetically sorted at the top of an otherwise alphabetically sorted table.

If I subsequently re-sort the table by clicking on the Title header (ascending), then the new entries all get put in their proper alphabetical sequence. BUT…if I then refresh the page, or alternatively visit the page in a different browser, the new form-submitted entries are once again ‘top of the table’! (football fans will be delighted ?? )

Again, re-sorting is just a click away, so it’s no huge deal. But it just feels as though new form-submissions are not being injected into the database in quite the right way.

I’m likely not quite understanding how the whole process works? But it just feels a bit odd when new entries don’t sit down in their proper alphabetical seat.

** in the linked page, the top two entries are the form submitted ones, the rest are from the initial Excel import.

@hj I cannot reproduce this. Can you share screenshots describing the issue?

@hj Sorry for the confusion. Whenever you use the sorting in the frontend as a normal user, itt will not be saved. To save a default sorting, in your backend table, use the Sort button -> change it -> Save table

Ah, I think I see what you mean. You have to save a ‘preference’ for the sort order first…otherwise new entries just get added in as new rows at the top of the table. (is that right?..)

I will give it a go!

    Thanks
