• Hi. I recently installed the “Google XML Sitemap” on my site and am not sure about the space issue, and I cant get in touch with the developer because there isn’t any contact deets.

The sitemap builds once and then automatically rebuilds or updates itself everytime I make a new post or change a page in my blog. It also notifies Google, Ask, Yahoo!, and Bing. The size of the sitemap is only 23kb, but it says it took 17MB to build it the first time.

I’m just wondering, when it says it’s using memory, does it mean bandwidth or permanent storage space on my host? And if bandwidth, does it mean the sitemap eats space in MBs everytime I update or create a new post? How does this work…because that sounds like I’m gonna’ have some problems with bandwidth.

Any help is appreciated. I hope this issue is cleared out. Anyone else using the plugin?

  • I know this is an old post but I would also need a response to this question. So…anyone?

Memory is neither bandwidth nor physical storage space. It’s literally the memory usage on the server itself.
