How long till New WordPress Blog Propagates?

  • I tried to installed a new Worpdress site in my hosting account today. It’s taking forever to propagate. How long does it take before this thing shows up so my website guy can start building my site. I’m so frustrated that it’s taking so long. This has been since 9am, it’s now 2pm. I hate wasting time. Anyone know about this.

    I see it in my folder, but the servers can’t find the site name yet.

  • Propagation has nothing to do with your WordPress installation but with your DNS. If you have updated your name servers which are provided to you by your web hosting, then it can take from 24 to 72 hours for your DNS to fully propagate. However, usually it takes few hours.

    You can try and flush your DNS. To flush your DNS, follow these steps:

    1. Type cmd and the Windows search bar will appear on the right hand side with search results.
    2. Right click on Command Prompt and click Run as administrator.
    3. Type in the command ipconfig /flushdns
