How Long Does Import Take?

    The upload was easy – now the import is taking forever. It’s been running > 1 hr. and how can I tell what’s done?

    It seems that once it is imported, it should be able to complete the import without my window open and having to be logged in — I need to head somewhere and I need my laptop – but this is still running — I had no idea it would be processing so long, and now I’m afraid to do anything…

    The icon is spinning (and it says Done preparing blogs.) — and it’s been like that for over an hour without any other change in topic…

    Please advise.

    Usually, this means that there is a plugin/theme compatibility issue with the new platform.
    What you need to do is enable WP_DEBUG in wp-config then refresh the page and see what error is shown. Disable the plugin/theme or update it.
    Sometimes it is just a php module missing like libcurl or libzip that needs to be enabled. The error message will tell you what plugin or theme is the issue.
