Hi Herman, first of all nice plugin! I would like to display regular posts in the timeline instead of having to create “new announcements” via the plugin. Is this feasible? If so, can you share the code and indicate what needs to be modified and where? Please reply when you get a chance. Thanks.

    Hi Idntt,

You cannot integrate standard posts. Standard posts don’t have the meta data in place to account for announcement date, icon etc.

For now, you’ll need to stick with generating announcement posts.

Hi Herman, nice plugin, will you consider integrating standard posts in a future version ? Mix posts and announcement would be very useful !

    Thanks for job,

I also would like to know if you plan on doing that?

I really like the plugin, but it kinda feels double. I don’t want to write announcements and do regular posts at the same time. Linking them somehow would be great. Not saying you should throw announcements overboard or anything, but it would be cool if I can redirect the read more (or a click on the whole square for that instance) to a regular post.

Also a nice feature would be to just take x lines from a regular post and use those to create an announcement.

This is an awesome plugin, but I agree. It would be awesome to call up the normal posts and have extra options there (post type: announcement, announcement details, etc). I’ve had to take some time to convert our old blog/events posts and convert them. Worth doing, because it looks awesome, but really would be beneficial to integrate this into the standard WordPress taxonomies.

By the way, any way to add these to Recent Posts or a side widget for recent events/announcements?

    Hi Evan,

Thanks for the great plugin! I was questioning if you know why it would not work on a one-page themed website? When I add the shortcode it works beatifully, however all pages following disappear? I haven’t come across this matter looking into the support questions.

    Thanks!

    Hi,

As nice as it would be to integrate standard posts, it’s just not possible at the moment. As mentioned above there are numerous pieces of meta data (announcement date, icon, announcement content, announcement image etc) that are stored within the announcement post type that just are not available using standard post types.

If someone wants to take it upon themselves to write an extension that allows for the use of standard posts using the meta available in posts that would be awesome and I would be willing to either back it in to the existing code or make it publicly available as an add-on.

Benjamin, please start up your own thread as our question is completely separate than the issue mentioned here. To briefly touch on the issue, I don’t know why it wouldn’t work on a single page site. I see no reason it wouldn’t. If you need some help resolving the issue, please consider purchasing a support license and I’ll be more than willing to look into the issue for you.

    Thanks,
    Evan
