How in the WordPress admin should developers add a link to their plugin?

  • Some WordPress plugins have many options and are frequently accessed.

    What is the recommended way to make it easy for users to access such plugins?

    • Only on the Plugins page.
    • Also within the expanded menu for Plugins (shown on hover).
    • Also as its own item in the left hand navigation.

    Different plugins place links to their configuration pages in all of the above ways (and more). it would be useful to get some feedback on what the recommended approach is.
