• I have already claimed my blog on technorati, but I see a lot of people recomending installing UTW. I already use categories similarly to tags. Is this enough to get a proper listing in technorati, or should I go through the extra trouble of installing the UTW plugin?

  • 1. your categories already count as tags at technorati. this is a standard feature of WP. As long as you ping to ping-o-matic or technorati.
    2. I recommend getting UTW anyway. Here’s why:
Often, you don’t want to make a category for something that may never come up again (say wildcats), but a tag may describe that post above your normal categories. Using many descriptive tags will get you a lot of incoming links from technorati. Far more than categories.

Personal pref: UTW over letting wp’s cats act as tags. I like the control….

Thanks for the input. That is exactly what I wanted.

How do I get the technorati and other blog feed graphics to show on my site. I don’t host Word Press. I am using the mysite.wordpress.com version. I am also using a newer template.

I just ditched cats for UTW because of it’s functionality. categories are fine, but if you’d rather post on tons of different topics without worrying about crowding the sidebar, tags are good

    besides, categories are SO 2005
