How hard would it be to mimic this site?

It’ll be easier to do this if you find an existing theme that’s close to what you want and modify from there. Try browsing through some themes:

Also, if you have a WordPress blog, pay attention to your dashboard; “Other WordPress News” often lists new themes to check out.

I haven’t found anything very close to it.

The Mike Lococo themes at https://themes.wordpress.net/index.php?s=wuhan are close enough to start off, I think.

It’s just a 3-column layout, really. I’m sure there’s something in the hundreds of WP themes available that would be a good start. Think of the site you’re trying to imitate in more abstract terms, not so specific with the dropshadows and rollover effects in place.

I thought it was a WP site… How hard would it be to make the single side column become 2 regular side columns. So, it’s almost a 3 column site, but with mods.

For something like that, I’d just get a three column WP theme and modify it to meet your needs. That’s much easier than trying to take a two column and make it a three column.
