How does WordPress work? pages and posts

  • Hi

    I was wondering if anyone could explain how WordPress manages the posts and pages. I know the content get stored in mySql-database. But i don’t understand how they create the urls to the various pages and posts.

    mypage.com/category1/page2

    When i look at my webhotell i see that there is no folder named category1 and no file named page2.

    How do they do that?

    That’s a big question.

    WordPress’s index.php knows how to extract the data from your DB and display it. The permalinks work because of .htaccess parsing.
