How does TinyPNG work with CDNs?

    I’m using TinyPNG, but I’m wondering how it works if you use a CDN to serve your images.

    When you upload an image, TinyPNG compresses it right after upload. But if you have a Pull CDN set up, does a CDN grab the initially uploaded image and put it on its server, or does it not pull the image until it’s loaded in a web page?

    Hi Vich11,

    (It’s hard to answer your question completely without knowing exactly which software you are using, so this answer will be to our best knowledge.)

    When using an Origin Pull CDN, images are loaded once a webbrowser requests them. It is then cached on the CDN until it’s expired. If you upload an image when the plugin is enabled there will be no loading of the original image between uploading and compressing. This means that the CDN will not cache the uncompressed image.
