How does this interact with existing accounts?

How does this plugin interact with users who already have accounts on my website? I see that there’s an option to create an account automatically when a subscription is purchased, but I can’t find any documentation on what happens if someone is logged in when they subscribe or what happens if the email address they use to subscribe is already associated with an account on the site. Any help or links to documentation would be greatly appreciated.
