I want to restrict user access to certain files I upload to media. When editing a level I see the “Media” tab in the left column, but it only allows me to check “Media” with the text “No posts” below. In the media library I have uploaded one pdf file and one image.

Is it possible to do what I want to do?

    Thank you for reporting this.

This was a bug and should be fixed in version 0.7.

Let me know if updating resolves your problem.

Updating the plugin solved the listing issue, but giving one group explicit access to a file does not prevent other users to access that file. I want to select which files the different groups have access to.

And the autocomplete for searching files does not seem to work as intended. I get no results when starting to type, even though it should be.

How are your files listed on your site? I.e. do you link to their own page, or are users able to download the files?

Are your files displayed in a widget or archive page or are they attached to a post/page?

Does the autocomplete work if you hard refresh (CTRL F5) the page?

The files are added to the page content as links directly to the file.

I tried a hard refresh for autocomplete, but no success.

I think that is the problem. When linking directly to the file, you go “outside” of WordPress, in which case this plugin (or any other plugin) no longer takes effect.

If you link to the media page instead, then Restrict User Access will still take effect. Would it be possible for you to make that change?

I will think about how the plugin can set up a “wall” when linking directly to files.
