How does eshop-invoice work

I assume you have seen the customer side of the plugin, with the “My Orders” page (using the shortcode)?

About the ability to print the orders from your admin dashboard, I’ve submitted a change in the core eshop plugin to Rich so eshop-invoice can automatically add a column to this table, linking to the PDF.

Thanks for your reply, you will have to bear with me as I am really struggling to get my head around a half completed website that a friend started for me. I have no idea how a transaction should work. I assume I go to eshop order to process the order, but I cannot see how this integrates with the invoice side. Perhaps I need to download something else? An idiots guide on how they integrate would be really useful!

I am unsure what you mean by the customer side of the plugin. I can see My Orders under the users menu – is this it? I have e-shop installed, do I need to download something else too?

Do I need to reinstall your plugin or download a new version to get the changes you have installed?

Hi Suzanne,

the order should be processed automatically when an user orders something from your website, depending on the eshop merchant gateways you have set up, etc. For more info on how to configure the eshop, please check the forum.

When you place the [eshop_invoice_user_frontend] shortcode on a public page, your customers can have informations about their orders and a link to the PDF invoice. For the admin side, yes, you’ll have to update the plugin when it will be available.

Many thanks for your reply, however I wonder if you could elaborate on your reply as I am still a little confused.

I have set-up payment through paypal and can test it partially through eshop orders, by moving in manually through each stage. Where does your software fit into this. How do I place the [eshop_invoice_user_frontend] on a page do I need to download this from you or is it already attached to one of the pluggins? Or is it a case of creating a new page and just trying this in?

Sorry to be a real pain with all my questions!

My plugin has nothing to do with the change of order statuses. I only provide a user frontend using the shortcode (in order to allow you to disable the access to the dashboard to regular customer, if you want) AND to provide PDF invoices for your customers (and your accountant). All I mention here IS included in the version 0.1.

For the moment, except from hacking the core code of eshop, you can’t have the PDF links in the Orders Admin page… It’s going to be available soon, I hope.

No, the shortcode is already in the 0.1 version, so just add it to a page and you’ll (your customers will) be able to see their orders.

I have placed the code on my order confirmation page and it shows me all the test orders I have placed. I can now get a better idea of what it is used for. I imagine it would be better used in different circumstances for when an customer want to log onto the website and view the history of their orders. Rather than to show the summary of a current order at checkout, which is what I am currently trying to get up and running.

Am i right in thinking that I will probably have to install something else (another plugin?) so that current customers can login to the site first and a link for them to see the order summary

It is indeed the goal of my plugin, providing a page with the list of orders they have placed.

You don’t necessarily need a plugin to do that as you can use WordPress’ default login/register forms. Anyway, you could use a plugin to hide the admin Dashboard from your regular “users” (=customers). Then you just have to put the “My Orders” page you created (the one containing the shortcode) to a menu.
