How do you work this thing?

  • I tried this plugin and found many errors.
    1. The plugins page has links to Import Export Deactivate (the row actions). The Export link is to the import page.

    2. Choosing Posts, the number of posts is shown, but it overlaps one of the buttons.

    3. It is not obvious what the various buttons do. Once I chose what I wanted to export, I didn’t know how to make it happen. Clicking on “Migrate Package” gave me the same result as “Customize Export File”: a modal window that is not fully visible. This is using Firefox 79.

    4. I chose JSON output, but got CSV. I am now wondering if I needed to save a template before clicking a button because it has ignored my choices. This should be explained, or made more obvious, or the buttons shouldn’t appear or something. Having the buttons at the top is confusing things.
    Maybe I’m used to the WordPress exporter that gives you a file when you click Export, instead of managing it separately.

    5. Once I made a template and came back to Export to try again, the template was not in the list to choose from.

    Edit: I had to add that
    6. I selected a post type, the fields I wanted, and the export file type, and then saved the template. I then loaded the template and it looked the same. So I clicked Migrate Package and the output I got did not match my choices in the template! It output CSV instead of JSON, and added all the fields instead of the few I chose.

    7. Also, even though I chose the trash can icon on the Manage Exports page, each time it gave me something I didn’t want, I see in the wp-content/uploads/wp-import-export-lite/export/ folder that the folders were not deleted. And there is only one template in the list (the last one I tried).

    You might consider this resolved (and keep marking it that way), but for me, trying to use it, it is very far from resolved.
    I would feel okay with you marking it resolved when you comment here with the link to the release that fixes it. Thank you.

    major update related to design and other issue will be fixed in major 4.0 update.
