How do you Toggle Off "Paste as Text?"

  • Looks like WP has disabled the ability to past directly from Word – or has it? If I click on “Paste as Text,” a pop-up notifies me of the following:

    “Paste is now in plain text mode. Contents will now be pasted as plain text until you toggle this option off. If you’re looking to paste rich content from Microsoft Word, try turning this option off. The editor will clean up text pasted from Word automatically.”

    However, I have no idea how to turn this off. Is it in Settings?

    Confused.

    Thanks for this. How hard would it have been to have some change in the icon that tells you you’re now out of text and into Word mode?

    Every time you click it, it toggles one way or the other. How do you actually paste text instead of toggling? Messing with the ability to text has to be the worst “enhancement” ever. How can I get me content into pages/posts now? I’m not an html from scratch writer.

    Won’t work for me either. I select text in Word, Copy it, switch to the WP post I’m working on, click in the writing window so the cursor is there, then use my mouse to click on “paste as text” nothing happens. Right click does not give a paste option.

    Once you have copied the text to your clipboard, click in the body of the visual editor and try CTRL + V to paste. You only need to click the toolbar icon if you want to toggle from plain to rich text. If a black line border shows around the icon, it is in plain text mode.

    Thank you Ava, your advice was spot-on. I successfully pasted Word paragraphs into a WP blog. I also have on my clipboard material copied from PDF documents. I use Ditto to manage my clipboard. I had no luck pasting this other material in a blog. This would be a very useful function as I often receive PDF newsletters and want to paste a section into my blog. Can anyone help?
