I am a noob when it comes to WordPress, I want to know how to show the previous posts. The theme I am using shows the first 5, but after that nothing.

I have searched and found previous_post(), but I dont know how to use it. Can you also determine how much previous posts you can show ?

In Settings > Reading – you can set the number of posts which should appear per page in the default theme included with your WordPress download. That theme would have the previous page link. If you’re using a custom theme, template might have been modified with wp_query to show only a certain number of posts/per category which overrides number of posts you set in Settings > Reading.

Thanks, i got one part answered. I also wanted to know how to show previous posts, as in the command. I placed the previous_post() where I wanted to show previous psots in the template, but to know luck

theme name or site URL? It all depends on what the code was on front page in the first place. Even if you place a previous posts link, it won’t appear if home page code does not lend to such.
