How do you restrict usernames with spaces?

  • I’m getting a lot of spam registrations in the form “meet donna and mona https://www.domain.com” so I want to block usernames with spaces and domain names.

    But the plugin can’t seem to block creation of usernames with spaces (where do you d that??) and when i do Restriction by part (contain=> www.) it doesn’t work i can still create such usernames.

    I tested it and did not find anything abnormal, as you can see in these pictures:

    This is very weird because I do not have “Not allow spaces in username” setting. See screenshot:

    if your site is multisite or you use buddypress this option doesn’t work, I added it only if the site is single and buddypress is not activated.

    ah ok, i am not multisite but i do use buddypress. any reason why it wouldn’t work with buddypress?
    can you confirm partial username block (like www.) should work even with buddypress? (it doesnt for me).

    i’m sorry, but i tried on buddypress is everything is normal even space works.
    try on another theme to locate the source of the problem.
