I used the All-in-One Migration Tool plugin to backup my website and then downloaded the backup file to my local PC (not using export). After that, I deleted the backup file from the server. Now, I need to restore my website. I thought I could simply import the backup file back into the All-in-One Migration Tool plugin and then use the restore function to restore the website. However, at the end of the import process, it mentioned that it would overwrite the WordPress database and other files, which was not what I expected.

Does the import process combine the actions of copying and restoring as I expected? What is the difference between backup/restore and import/export? DoesIs the data exported from the website the same as the data stored in a website backup?

Can I use the import function to restore my website using previous backup file?

Currently, import and restore backup work the same way.
There are some differences when importing a website to a different URL.
For the purposes of restoring a backup, you can safely use import from file.
It asks you to overwrite your files and database because it will use the contents of the backup to replace the site with.
You can expect your site to be the same one as what you backed up after using restore/import process.
