How do you move a podcast feed from 1 website to another both self hosted?

You need to get the podcast setup on the new site. once that is done, you need to do a 301 redirect from the old site.

Hi. I have a slightly different situation, perhaps you could nudge me in the right direction. My previous wordpress install was not on the root level of the domain, so domain.com/aseparateinstall/feed/podcasts –?I’ve now moved it to a new domain where it’s on the root level, so newdomain.com/feed/podcast. Do I put the .htaccess file in the domain.com/aseparateinstall/ folder, or in the domain.com/ folder?

@staalenataas: You’ll want to edit the .htaccess file at the domain.com/aseparateinstall/feed/podcasts location and add the redirect there to the new domain.com/feed/podcast URL.

So just to be sure that I understand you correctly: /../feed/podcast isn’t an actual directory on the server, so are you’re saying that I should stick the .htaccess file in the sub-folder at domain.com/aseparateinstall, and then in the file I should redirect to just domain.com/? Or should I add the /feed/podcast/ to the redirect?

WordPress installations store their .htaccess files in their root directories. That’s the file you’ll want to edit within the installation of the old location. Within that .htaccess file, you’ll create a 301 redirect that redirects the old feed URL to the new feed URL. More information can be found here:
