How do you hide a page for an exerpt?

How do I hide excerpt pages from public access? For example, services section uses excerpt. So, I go ahead and create a new page and type in the excerpt text editor. Then once I save it will show up on the homepage. How do I hide this excerpt page from the public access? Or is there a better way to do it?
