How do you have easily edited eg.News section on home static page

Hi,

I have quite a nice web site with all static pages in atahualpa theme.

Currently I have widgets in left & right bars for pictures & news & other info etc but I have to go into dashboard & design to add or change the text.

What I would like is to have a window on the home page or whatever that can be directly edited from the www page but requiring a password or other restriction so just me a one or two others can have direct & EASY editing.

Basically I would like staff to be able to go to the basic www home page & add there own comments but no one else be able to comment or write stuff like you might on a blog.
I would like it in a single simple window, fixed size window & not scrolling with all the “reply” .

I guess this is probably the most fundamental feature of wordpress but I have gone down the traditional www route & never actually used it as a blog type site.

What would be the best way
