How do you guys keep track of traffic?

  • I’m looking for a way to get a feel for how many visitors I’m getting and from where. I’m not really into the super complicated things that cpanel offers. On another site I have, I use a referrer logger program and have it in the main header, so every visitor who links in is logged. It’s still not ideal, because I don’t see people who come direct.

    With WP, I can’t even find anyplace to put such a referrer logger. It requires a PHP call, and if I put it in index.php, it breaks the feeds for some reason. Besides that though, with WP most of my readers could be via RSS and I’d never see them anyway.

    Any suggestions? I’m just starting up; I don’t have 1000’s of visitors, so at this point my ideal thing is just a chronological list of visitors with a referrer if available…
