• I used the WordPress importer and imported an XML file of sample content for a theme I bought.

How do I delete that sample content now?

No idea where the actual data file is.

    Thanks for any help!

  • Most likely in the theme folder wp-content/themes/yourthemefolder

Weird, but I deleted the entire theme and the sample content still shows. Which is why I am confused as to where it actually IS. But thank you for responding!

I don’t really know what you mean by WordPress importer. Did you look in wp-content/uploads (or whatever your upload path is set to in the Settings)?

Under Tools — Import — WordPress. That is the importer.

Yes I looked in uploads. The sample content I’m talking about is things like fake posts, and page structure, and things like that. Extensive menu items.

I have never used that but if you used the one that says “Install the WordPress importer to import posts, pages, comments, custom fields, categories, and tags from a WordPress export file.” and imported a WordPress export file, that data could/would be in a lot of places.

I finally just went in and deleted everything by hand. Seems like there would be an easier way, though. Whew. Thx again though.

@kay9 all that content will be in your database, so deleting all the posts by hand is the way to do it, or you could also just empty your database and start over, but that will also delete your WordPress settings.

You may want to considering using CSV 2 POST for importing.

It allows us to reverse/undo our post creation plus we can put our data through SEO plugins easier.

Just means you would need to convert your xml to .csv file which is easy enough done.
