I’m trying out the free version of the Yoast SEO plugin for WordPress and I’m having a hard time improving the Flesch Reading Ease score on posts that have a large chunk of quotes. I cannot modify this text, as it’s a direct quote and must remain unchanged no matter how not optimal the grammar may be. So, is there a way to have the Flesch Reading Ease ignore sections of quoted text, so that I can focus on improving the rest of the post’s text? Thanks!

  • Hi,

While Yoast does not have the ability to disable the Flesch Reading Score for specific blocks, we do suggest ignoring it if you know you have written it well for your target audience. It is OK if not all dots are green. This guide explains more https://yoast.com/want-green-bullet-wp-seo/.

Thanks for the response! I found a workaround by putting all the non-quote text into a new temporary post and going by that Flesch Readin Score.

Thanks for confirming you were able to find a workaround to get a better analysis of the text. We are going ahead and marking this issue as resolved.
