• I’m fairly new to WordPress, and have set up a site, https://innovation.marin.org/ and have a nagging question that I can’t find the answer to.

I know that multiple people can comment on a post, depending on how you have users and comments set up.

And I know that as the administrator, I can go into the Administration Panel and add a new post.

What I want is have a panel of users that I could set up as “authors” be able to *POST*, not just *COMMENT*. A real post, that is, where they can upload images, etc.

Is that possible without having multi-user version of WordPress?

If so, where do the “authors” enter their posts?

    Thanks, much!

  • They get a login just like the administrator, but with their own username/password.. You, the administrator, can add those users via Administration > Users > Add New and you assign them a role, such as editor or author so they can write posts.

    Thanks, Michael.

Does that mean they also have to go into the Administration Panel and add a new post? Or can they do it directly on the site? If so, how?

    Thanks.

    AlanaBay,

Yes, your authors do need to go into site admin to create a new post, unless you have a theme that supports posting from the main site.

Note also that WordPress authorship is a tiered concept. Contributors can write posts, but can’t publish them (posting has to be approved by an Editor or an Administrator). Authors can write and publish their own posts. Editors can post and edit other people’s posts. Finally, Administrators can do whatever the heck they please, including breaking the site. ??

Thanks so much, NC@WP. Next stop is seeing if the theme we are using supports creating posts from the main site.
