• Hey guys, I just got a domain and have really fallen in love with WordPress. The only problem is that Yahoo! sets you up with 2.0.2 which is obviously far behind 2.1. They claim to do an autoupdate but that is not working/i dont really know how to get it to work (I thought it was auto)

When I tried to update it manually it gave me an error message that read, “You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.”

Only problem is, I don’t know how to do this because it isn’t showing up on Yahoo!(phpMyAdmin isn’t showing up for some reason) Any help would be most useful, epsecially if you have experience with Yahoo webhosting

    Thanks!

  • Glad to hear you’ve fallen in love with WP.
I hope that’s not true for Y! – so you can run away from them ??

yahoo hosting has so many dumb quirks – who knows?
However if you did the 1 click install, you can’t update it manually. As for contacting yahoo and getting a response – good luck.

I started a new blog on my Yahoo! Hosting account, using the “Manual Upgrade” option. It installed WordPress 2.0.2. I followed the WordPress upgrade instructions to 2.1 — but /upgrade.php (and any other page) is blank.

Please, does anybody know how to upgrade WordPress on Yahoo! Hosting?

There’s definitely a trick to it, and it involves jacking around with their incarnation of the wp-cache plugin I think.

Search here for a post by spencerp (maybe try keywords of spencerp yahoo upgrade) as I know he figured it out once — and posted here about it.
