First: I NO LONGER HAVE wordpress, hence no wordfence. Second, I will NOT reinstall WordPress just to fix this problem with wordfence.

WordPress blew up on the last update destroying my website. I went to Concrete5 which works perfectly for me and turned out to be much easier to use with little learning curve. So after 10 years of wordpress, I’m gone.

Now I keep getting Wordfence messages about what Wordfence is doing when it doesn’t even exist. Since I am not paying for premium to turn it off.

They really need dashboard controls here to do the same thing or allow a respond message but in the interest of security, they don’t. I am labeling this spam and sending it in spam reports since I don’t want the emails and they keep popping up.

Give me a way to turn this off so I can go back to not worrying about my website with Concrete5.

  • Did you happen to make a backup of the site before wiping wordpress off? This has happened a few times. People move off of wordpress and on to something else but before they do, they make a copy of the site so they can revert if something goes wrong. They name it website.old or backup or whatever, and leave it in the public_html directory. That means it is still publicly accessible and wordfence is still working as it is supposed to. Removing the wordfence directory in wp-content/plugins will fix this. But let’s talk about the bigger issue here. Since, as I mentioned, the backup would probably exist in the web directory as I mentioned, I am advising you to get rid of it now or back it up to your local computer. Php is php and can be executed if it is accessible. If you leave that folder there it’s not a question of if you will be hacked but when it will happen and how bad it will be. Please remove it immediately if this is the case. There really isn’t any other reason I can think of for this behavior.
