• Hi. (I’m a non-native speaker of English. Please forgive my English.)

I upgraded BackWPup to 3.0.2 from 2.1.17, and “No MySQLi extension found” errors occurred while backing up WP database.

I’m using web hosting service without MySQLi extension installed.
I asked the hosting provider to install MySQLi, but they replied that for now, they’re not planning it.

If possible, I’d like to keep using BackWPup.

    Hello,

This is the Text of the PHP Documentation:

“It is recommended to use either the mysqli or PDO_MySQL extensions. It is not recommended to use the old mysql extension for new development, as it has been deprecated as of PHP 5.5.0 and will be removed in the future.”

    You can find here
    https://www.php.net/manual/en/mysqlinfo.api.choosing.php

I hope that can help that your Hoster installes it.

Hello. Thanks for your explanation & advice.
I grasped the situation. Oh Well, I have no choice.

The hoster upgrades PHP to 5.4 sometime soon, so I’ll see how it goes until then in the hope of good results.
